Connecting Rod Grinder and Boring Machine RB-125

A connecting rod grinding and boring machine is used for complete connecting rod reconditioning. Grinding corrects the external diameter of the rod's big end (where the bearing shell goes), while boring enlarges and aligns the internal bore (rod eye). The main difference lies in versatility and finish quality. Fixed head machines only make linear movement, limiting cut types. The RB-125 with planetary head combines its own rotation (80-200 rpm) with tool movement, creating superior finish and greater dimensional precision. The planetary system also allows working more complex connecting rods and doing both external grinding and internal boring in the same setup, saving time and improving concentricity between operations.

The process works in two stages with the same rod setup. First, grinding: the wheel spins at high rotation (up to 9,250 rpm) and the planetary head rotates slowly, removing material from the external diameter of the rod's big end. Then, boring: switching to the boring tool that works the internal bore with 8 different speeds (160-1730 rpm). The RB-125 has automatic table feed and continuous cooling system, ensuring precision and professional finish in both operations.

Basic maintenance includes daily cleaning of the cooling system, coolant change every 15 days, weekly bearing lubrication and monthly head alignment verification.
